What made the biggest difference was how we approached the end of the day. Not trying to tire her out more, but actually helping her come down.
We built a bit of a rhythm around it. Same sort of flow each night. Bath, quieter time, lower lights, just a slower pace. That’s where the Calm Sleep Balm and Sweet Dreams Roller came in.

It wasn’t something we relied on heavily, it just became part of that wind-down. A moment where everything slowed down and we were just with her. Applying it, gentle touch, being present. You could feel her soften a bit through it.
And I think that’s the biggest thing we’ve learnt with sleep. It comes back to the nervous system. If they’re still switched on, still taking everything in, it’s hard for them to let go. But when they feel calm, safe, and connected, sleep comes a lot easier.

The routine helps, the environment helps, the products support it. But that connection piece is the main thing. That feeling of safety before they go to sleep.

That’s what we always come back to. A few things that we’ve found actually support that, in a simple way:
-
Morning light
Getting outside early in the day helps set their internal clock. It sounds basic, but it makes a difference over time. This is all to do with circadian health and how melatonin regulates better with morning sunlight before 8am.
-
Lower light at night
Dimming lights in the evening, especially avoiding bright overhead lighting, helps signal to the body that it’s time to wind down. We use amber tone globes in our home instead of LEDs.
-
Reducing stimulation
Less noise, less chaos, no screens close to bedtime. Letting their system actually slow down instead of pushing through. Get Dad to play with bubs a little earlier LOL. Books under amber tone globe - builds a beautiful connection moment, thats also calming and enjoyable for bubs.
-
Consistent rhythm
Not strict timing, just a similar flow each night so their body starts to recognise what’s coming. We have found this has helped Milas sleep wake cycle having structure.
-
Warm bath before bed
Helps relax the body and acts as a clear transition from day to night. You can use our bath teas and bath magnesium blend.
-
Gentle touch and connection
This is the biggest one. Slowing down, being present, physical touch, perhaps skin on skin. That’s what helps their nervous system feel safe enough to switch off. Checking in with your frequency/nervous system too as a parent, supporting it too as dysregulation only reflects to our children.
-
Using the Calm Sleep Balm or Sweet Dreams roller as part of that moment
Not as a fix, but as part of the routine, a ritual. A signal to slow down, connect, and settle.
None of it needs to be perfect. But when you layer these things together, especially during those development phases, it gives their body the best chance to actually rest.
