Organic wool socks: more useful than they sound

Our 100% Organic Wool Socks were chosen because wool is one of nature's most remarkable fibres. Naturally breathable, moisture-wicking and temperature-regulating, it helps keep little feet comfortably warm without overheating, making it a beautiful addition to a calming bedtime ritual. They also provide a comfortable way to wear an amber anklet beneath the sock while under appropriate adult supervision. To care for your socks, simply hand wash in cool water using a wool-safe detergent.

Unlike many conventional socks made from synthetic fibres and plastic-based materials that may contain chemical additives or finishes, including phthalates in some manufacturing processes, our socks are made from 100% organic wool- a simple, natural fibre that has been trusted for generations. We believe what surrounds our little ones' skin matters just as much as what goes on it. Wool naturally regulates temperature, manages moisture and allows the skin to breathe, making it a thoughtful choice for everyday wear and a beautiful addition to a calming bedtime routine.

Macrame teethers as keepsake objects

Macrame teethers are handcrafted from organic cotton macrame cord with a beechwood teething ring centrepiece. They are suitable from around three months, washable in cool water on a wool cycle, and frequently kept as keepsakes after teething is complete. Beechwood is naturally antibacterial and is the standard wood for safe infant teething products.

We chose macrame teethers for the collection because they sit between functional and beautiful, and because the chewable element (beechwood) is naturally safe without surface treatments. The macrame cord component is not designed to be chewed and acts more as a grip handle, but is soft enough to comfort against the cheek and face. Each piece is handcrafted, so small variations in pattern are normal.

Food teethers without the nasties

Our nasty-free food teether is made from food-grade silicone with a beechwood handle, free from BPA, BPS, PVC, phthalates and lead. It is suitable from around four months when most babies begin teething and chewing exploration. Multiple textured surfaces support different chewing angles and provide gum-massage variation. Dishwasher safe on the top rack and replaces several plastic equivalents.

Food teethers fill the gap between gum massage with a clean finger and amber jewellery. They give the baby something safe to bite, which often provides more relief during peak teething than topical products alone. What size are the organic wool socks?

The socks are available in three sizes: 0 to 6 months, 6 to 12 months and 12 to 24 months. Wool has natural stretch and the sock sizing slightly overlaps to allow for growth. For babies between sizes, we recommend sizing up. Most families find one pair sufficient with a backup pair for laundry rotation, scaling up the size every six months.

Can I put the wool socks in the washing machine?

Hand-wash in cool water with a wool-safe detergent for best results and longest life. The socks can be machine-washed on a wool or delicate cycle in a mesh laundry bag, but the wool fibres will felt over time, shortening the lifespan of the sock and reducing breathability. Air dry flat. Never tumble dry, which will felt the wool quickly.

Are the macrame teethers safe for chewing?

The beechwood ring centrepiece is designed for chewing and is naturally antibacterial. The macrame cord component is soft and comforting but is not designed for sustained chewing; supervise your baby to ensure they are biting on the wood rather than pulling on the cord. Check the teether before each use for any signs of cord wear or wood damage, and discard if the structural integrity has compromised.

What does BPA-free actually mean?

BPA (bisphenol-A) is an industrial chemical historically used in some plastics that has been linked to hormonal disruption. BPA-free indicates that the product does not contain BPA. However, some BPA replacements (BPS, BPF) have similar concerns, so a truly safe baby product should be free from BPA, BPS and PVC. Our food teether is BPA, BPS, PVC and phthalate free, made entirely from food-grade silicone and beechwood.

How do I clean the food teether?

The food teether is dishwasher safe on the top rack at standard cycle temperatures. For hand washing, use warm soapy water and a soft brush to clean the textured surfaces, rinse thoroughly and air dry. Beechwood handles can be wiped with a damp cloth but should not be submerged for long periods or placed in the dishwasher, as prolonged water exposure can damage the wood finish.

When can my baby start using a food teether?

The food teether is suitable from around four months when most babies begin showing chewing interest and the natural teething phase typically begins. Younger babies (under four months) may not yet have the grip strength or motor coordination to use a food teether effectively. For under-four-month-olds with early oral discomfort, gum massage with a clean finger is usually more useful than introducing a teether early.
